Assisted Camera

A friend of mine, Ryan Ingebritsen ( making some very cool work), sent me an article on the photographer, Lucas Blalock. He made a very interesting comment in an interview:

I think about the contemporary photograph as a picture made with an assisted camera

He was referring to the use of post-processing (photoshop etc.) as a tool in rendering an image. I often think about the role of post processing, either in the darkroom or on a computer. I've recently been pursuing a lab that will help me to make an inter-negative to allow for a 8x10 contact print starting from a 6x7 negative. why? good question, I suppose I'm interested in master crafts that are going by the wayside, that and I'm always trying to recreate the wonder I've felt numerous times, be it seeing the beautiful tone in a platinum print, or the latitude wizardry of a zone system master like Ansel Adams. Plus, nothing's better than a contact print, right?
